The 1985 adaptation of Anne of Green Gables was made for television and aired as a two part mini-series, documenting the life of Anne Shirley as she’s adopted by the Cuthbert siblings who were expecting a boy. Based on the 1908 novel by Lucy Maud Montgomery, it was a massive success in its home country and globally.

Formed in 1978 in Crawley, West Sussex, @thecure are an English rock band with a career spanning over 40 years, said to be one of the godfathers for the Gothic subculture, though lead singer Robert Smith disputes this fact. It was after their 1982 album ‘Pornography’, which introduced a more pop flavour to their music, that they received mainstream success and worldwide acclaim.

Gold was a compilation album released by Barbara Dickson on the 18th November 1985. Featuring the hit song ‘I Know Him So Well’ with Elaine Paige from the musical Chess, the tracklist combines covers and original songs, peaking at no’ 11 in the UK Albums Chart.
